Broken...

Man, it's been a while since my last post. I have been busy with alterations, Halloween costumes, working at the office & working at the bar.

Jarrod & I had a scare with Rokit (the Min Pin pup) last Friday. Got home late Thursday night and let the dogs outta the kennel, Ernie took off as usual and we usually just let him run around till he comes home. Well Rokit ended up getting off his leash & took off too... he is so fast that is horrible to catch him, almost impossible in fact. So tried for a lil bit to get him but he took off toward the cow pasture so we just figured he would come home in a few hours, like usual.

Well... Jay stayed up till 4:30 am and he still hadn't returned so he laid down for a few hours, I had to work so I went to bed around 2:45. well I woke up at 7:30 and Jarrod said he still wasn't home...

I called the Crossroads Animal Shelter, the Humane Society & Adopt-a-pet in Buffalo in hopes that he had been turned in during the night. Unfortunately there was no sign of him anywhere... she I gave a description & our numbers & crossed my fingers for some response.

About 30 minutes after I called, Jarrod got a call from the Crossroads Animal shelter and Rokit was there, a police officer brought him in, they said he had a few cuts and seemed very timid (which is not like Rokit at all). Once we got him from the shelter we knew right away he needed to be seen, he was not walking on his back legs. Well turns out that he has a broken L7 vertebra in his back.
So the little guy needs lots of love and attention right now, at least a month till he is able to run and more than likely he will always have slight problems when walking.

We owe great thanks to Jen & Adam for taking Ernie for the weekend, it was nice to be able to give all our attention to Rokit! And they must have really worn him out because he spent all Sunday sleeping outside, AMAZING!

What else has happened lately, I got some drunk driver arrested the other day. I was leaving work on Monday night & this blazer came flying behind me. So I slowed down to make sure I didn't get hit... well the guy fly around the side of my car and then up the back entrance hill. So I was going to follow him & call him in for reckless driving... but as I came up the back hill I couldn't see him car... until all of a sudden these lights emerged from the ditch across the road. The guy had come over the hill so fast that he must have jumped the road and hit the ditch.

He backed up and rammed forward a few times (hitting a tree in the process) and then finally flew up the ditch and back onto the road. Well I called 911 and had wright county dispatched out to find him... I continued to follow him as I was on the phone and luckily the guy got a flat tire and had to pull over... making it EASY for the cops to find him. I guess he blew a .15 almost twice the legal limit... after my history I am actually glad to see someone hopefully learn a lesson... drinking and driving just don't mix.

It sucks to be the rat & have to see someone get arrested but I always say to myself... "what if my little sister was driving on the same road as this guy" or my sister and my nephew or my mom... I wouldn't want their lives in danger so it's for the better that he is off the road.

Well back to work.. both jobs today so I am hoping for strength to get me through a long day & hoping for a good attitude to give to my customers.

Take care....
